The Overlooked Garage Door

The Overlooked Garage Door

When you shop for a new car does your sales person walk you to the most expensive car on the lot first? How about the least expensive? Probably not. I’ve found that most sales people want to maximize their effort and through some well thought out questions try to fit you into the best value vehicle for your budget. That makes the most sense.

It’s not that much different in the garage door world except the breadth of offerings is slightly more limited. Reputable garage door companies take great pride in the work they do and value the quality of the product they install.

Sometimes customers are simply looking for an extreme value garage door to simply cover an opening on an apartment, old garage, or replace a very old door with as little expense as possible.

Here at Overhead Door™ we have those doors as well. Our Traditional Steel garage doors in the 170 and 180 series are built for just these purposes. From the exterior you, nor anyone else, can tell any difference. These series doors can also be customized like any other door with windows, window trim, decorative hardware and the like.

All these doors have a manufacturers warranty for peace of mind.

If you’d like more information on either of these two door series head on over to our page here and download the pdf.

It can be. Springs are under extreme tension, and once one fails the door becomes far too heavy to lift safely. Stop using the door, keep people and pets away from it, and call us. Replacing a spring is quick and inexpensive compared to the damage or injury a failed spring can cause.

We strongly recommend against it unless you are trained on torsion springs. The stored tension can cause serious injury. Our technicians carry the right springs and tools to do the job safely, usually in a single visit.

Usually yes. Both springs have done the same amount of work, so when one breaks the other rarely lasts much longer. Replacing both at once saves you a second service call.

Often, yes. Individual sections can usually be ordered and replaced on current door models. If the door is older or several panels are damaged, we will give you an honest comparison between panel replacement and a new door.

We can provide service outside normal business hours. If your door fails at a bad time, call 1-800-688-4312 and we will work out the fastest way to help.

With eight service trucks working across the Capital Region and stocked parts on board, most repairs are scheduled promptly and finished in one visit. Call us and we will give you a realistic timeframe based on where you are and what the door is doing.

Most doors are ordered and received within about 15 business days. From there our scheduling team will set an installation date and time that fits your schedule.
