It can be. Springs are under extreme tension, and once one fails the door becomes far too heavy to lift safely. Stop using the door, keep people and pets away from it, and call us. Replacing a spring is quick and inexpensive compared to the damage or injury a failed spring can cause.

We strongly recommend against it unless you are trained on torsion springs. The stored tension can cause serious injury. Our technicians carry the right springs and tools to do the job safely, usually in a single visit.

Usually yes. Both springs have done the same amount of work, so when one breaks the other rarely lasts much longer. Replacing both at once saves you a second service call.
