Who we are
Overhead Door Company of Albany™ is owned and run by David and Kimberley Ripley. For more than 20 years it has been the garage door company that Capital Region homeowners and businesses call when a garage door breaks, when a garage door opener gives out, or when it is finally time for a new garage door.
We are a local business, and we work out of one building in Clifton Park. We know a Capital Region winter is hard on a garage door, and we know what it means to have your car stuck in the garage on a weekday morning.

The office will talk through what your garage door is doing and explain the likely fix and the cost before a technician is sent. We don’t use flat-rate pricing, because the cost depends on what has actually failed, so you hear the real number for your garage door.

What we do
Most of our work falls into a few areas. We repair garage doors and garage door openers of any brand, from broken springs and snapped cables to doors that have come off their tracks. We install new Overhead Door™ garage doors and garage door openers for homes and businesses. We repair commercial garage doors and commercial garage door operators, including rolling and industrial doors some other shops won’t take on. We also repair loading dock equipment, and we can schedule that work around your operating hours. We also offer preventive maintenance plans, so small problems get caught before they turn into a broken door.

Our Clifton Park building
We are located at 15 Corporate Drive in Clifton Park, which holds our showroom and our parts warehouse.
Our showroom has samples and literature for your review, and our professional sales staff is ready to serve you.
Our warehouse keeps a large stock of garage door parts. When something isn’t on the shelf, we special order it.
Our eight service trucks work out of that building and are on the road every day across nine counties: Albany, Saratoga, Schenectady, Rensselaer, Montgomery, Fulton, Schoharie, Greene and Columbia.
How we're connected to Overhead Door™
People sometimes ask how we can be local when Overhead Door™ is a name they see across the country. The answer is the distributor model. Overhead Door Corporation builds the garage doors and garage door openers, and local Ribbon Distributors sell and install them in their own communities. The same local distributor services them afterward. We are the Ribbon Distributor for Albany and the Capital Region.
The brand goes back to C. G. Johnson, who invented the upward-lifting garage door in 1921 and the electric garage door opener in 1926. When you buy an Overhead Door™ product from us, it comes from the company he founded, and it is installed and serviced by a local team you can call by name.
In the community
We are members of the Capital Region Builders and Remodelers Association, TV3C Albany and the Southern Saratoga Chamber of Commerce.
Area builders bring their new construction projects to us through our contractor program. Real estate agents call us through our real estate program for pre-closing inspections and quick repairs, so a garage door doesn’t hold up a sale.
